Growing up in Mont-Tremblant as the son of ski instructors, Erik Guay was practically born on skis. Guided by his father and coach, he set bold goals early on: to win a Crystal Globe, a World Championship, and an Olympic medal. As a founding member of the Canadian Cowboys, he helped usher in a dominant era for Canadian alpine skiing, chasing down Steve Podborski’s record to eventually become Canada’s all-time leader with 24 World Cup podiums. Despite near misses at the Olympics, Erik’s career was marked by resilience and relentless pursuit.
Off the slopes, Erik and his wife Karen are raising four daughters – Logann, Leni, Marlo, and Maude – while balancing the demands of elite sport and family life. His remarkable comeback in 2017, after multiple knee surgeries, saw him win Super-G gold and Downhill silver at the World Championships in St. Moritz, becoming the oldest World Champion in alpine history. With a Crystal Globe (2010) and two World titles (2011, 2017), Erik has built one of Canada’s most enduring legacies in winter sport.
