A third-round pick of the Maple Leafs in the 2016 NHL Draft, Woll's winning NHL debut in 2021 was just a taste of what was to come. He played for the United States at the 2017 and 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship, winning a gold and bronze medal, respectively. Starting his Toronto career with the Marlies, Joseph was named a North Division All-Star and represented the Marlies at the 2023 AHL All-Star Classic. In 2022, he was rewarded with a three-year contract by the Maple Leafs.
Joseph proved his dominance in the net during the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs when he took over the net in the Leafs' first-round series against the Boston Bruins. With the team facing elimination, the then-24-year-old helped the Leafs force a Game 7 after posting a .086 goals-against average and .964 save percentage in three games. In 2024, Joseph signed a three-year contract extension with Toronto.
Off the ice, Joseph is much more than a hockey player. A self-taught pianist, Joseph finds his calm in front of the keys.
“Hockey is about battling, fighting. Music is a whole different avenue of pure creative expression. I feel very deeply when I make music. I feel my heart. It’s special.”
Exceptionally gracious with his time, Joseph works with the Holland-Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, regularly visiting patients and sharing his love of music with the kids.
