The future of soccer in Canada looks a whole lot like Olivia Smith. In 2019, at just 15 years old, Olivia became the youngest player ever to debut for the senior national team and was titled the Canadian Youth International Player of the Year. She was named to the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup squad – again, becoming its youngest member at age 18. Olivia then signed her first professional contract with Portuguese club Sporting CP and received the league’s juried award as best young player of the season.
Olivia was named to the Canadian squad for the 2024 CONCACAF W Gold Cup and walked away from the tournament with 2 goals and the title of Best Young Player. After her first pro season with Sporting CP, Olivia signed a club-record transfer deal with Liverpool FC, joining an elite team in the WSL.
A force to be reckoned with on and off the pitch, Olivia is poised to be the future of both Liverpool FC Women and Team Canada.
