It’s not often a 14-year-old can hold his own against 18-year-olds, let alone dominate. Just one year after being introduced to contact hockey, Landon DuPont spent his 9th-grade season playing hockey at the U18 level with Calgary's Edge School, scoring 19 goals and 43 assists over 30 games.
In 2024, Landon became the first defenseman, and second-ever player in league history, to be granted exceptional status to play in the Western Hockey League as an under-ager. At just 14, the hockey phenom was picked first overall by the Everett Silvertips in the WHL draft. Landon will play his first WHL game at 15 years old.
WHL commissioner Dan Near describes Landon as "a fine young man, who not only possesses tremendous talent on the ice, but has been raised with solid moral character, a positive attitude, and a great work ethic."
Known for his skating ability and sharp hockey sense, Landon is poised to be a top pick in the 2027 NHL Draft.
