Saskatchewan may be an unlikely province to produce a snowboard prodigy, but Regina’s Mark McMorris is proof that it’s possible. Mark is one of the most decorated athletes in snowboarding history, holding three Olympic medals and twenty-three X Games medals. He was the first person to land a backside triple cork 1440, just one year before becoming the second athlete in history to win two gold medals in the same X Games.

Mark is no stranger to adversity. Only two weeks after breaking his rib at X Games, Mark won bronze at Sochi 2014 in the Olympic debut of snowboard slopestyle. It wasn't his first major injury, and it wouldn't be his last.

Just 11 months before PyeongChang 2018, Mark suffered near-fatal injuries in a backcountry incident and underwent multiple surgeries for a fractured jaw, arm, pelvis, and ribs, a ruptured spleen, and a collapsed left lung. Mark’s resilience saw him achieve one of the most memorable comebacks in Olympic history – from near-death to Olympic bronze in less than a year – when he stepped onto the podium and into the hearts of so many fans around the world.

In an ever-progressing sport, Mark has emerged as a leader in the snowboarding world. With his eyes on Milan 2026, Mark aims to keep excelling at the highest level of snowboarding, and in true McMorris fashion, he’ll have fun while doing it.
